Master or doctoral student for radiotacer development project

Currently seeking a graduate student to work on the Tc-99m based amyloid and tau radioligand project. This is a funded position which will be jointly supervised with Dr. Leonard Luyt in the Chemistry department. Tasks will include 1)  synthesis of ligands, 2) conjugation with Re and Tc-99m, 3) preclinical evaluation of binding to protein aggregates, and 4) in vivo assessment of brain biodistribution and pharmacokinetics. Anticipated start date is Sept 2021 or Jan. 2022.

We're looking for someone with experience in organic synthesis or organometallic chemistry who is looking to apply their skills to a new area. The project could have a direct impact on patient management and will hopefully remove barriers to accessing top notch healthcare. As an interdisciplinary project, there will be many opportunities to collaborate and learn new skills. Molecular imaging is an exciting field with welcoming and encouraging researchers at all stages of career, from undergraduate to professor.

While all are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to members of underrepresented groups. Contact me with any questions.
